ABOUT US

ABOUT THE PROVIDER

My name is Mariah Dorn I’m 29 years old and am a Licensed Childcare Home Provider licensed up to 14 children. The bottom story of my home is dedicated just for the childcare with their own bathroom, nap room, preschool room, separate infant/toddler room. Our Outdoor environment is just as important. We have a Rainbow playground system for climbing, a large wooden playhouse with a play kitchen with a second story in it for ake believing. We have a digging station with pea gravel and tonka trucks. There are art easels hanging on the fence, a weather station, writing center, woodworking area, and dress up station all outdoors. Our indoor environment is structured around a preschool environment with defined areas of interest such as Art, Sand & Water Play, Music & Movement, Dramatic Play, Science, Blocks, Reading & Writing Center, and Outside Play. My home is in the process of becoming a Nationally Accredited Daycare meeting all the standards set up by the NAFCC. You can view the requirements by visiting www.nafcc.org

Curriculum

I offer a preschool program for ages 2 years and up that teaches school
readiness skills. We use the High Reach Learning Program which meets the
NAEYC guidelines. To learn more about the program you can visit
www.highreach.com

HighReach Learning curriculum is based on the philosophy that children learn best through hands-on activities that address the needs of the whole child. In addition, the belief that children need a balance of child-initiated and teacher-facilitated activities each day. This approach reflects the beliefs of Jean Piaget, Erik Erikson, Lev Vygotsky, David Ausubel, and Jerome Bruner. This approach is grounded in sound child development theory and appropriate practices. Themes are used to introduce information and learning takes place as a child explores and manipulates real objects and events.

Activities

Library Program: We visit the Antelope Public Library once a week where we participate in Story time and each child checks out two books to take home and return the following week. www.saclibrary.org

Gymnastics Program: Every other week we visit Byers Gymnastics class to work on our skills by using the balance beam, bars, tumble track, trampoline and pit. www.byersgym.com

Roseville Aquatic Center: During the summer we visit the pool once a week to play on their water playground with a slide that sits in 12"water. There are pulleys, and buttons to activate the water.

We take various field trips throughout the year to the Zoo, Railroad Museum, Science Museum, Movies, Concerts, Fairytale Town, the lake and various Parks to play. We attend Ringling Bros. Circus and Disney on Ice once a year.
