Early Beginnings Daycare & Preschool

DESCRIPTION OF DAYCARE
We have a structured environment but let the children make choices on the activities they would like to do. The children participate in a morning circle time to discuss the weather, calendar, events or anything currently going on in childcare or their homes. At age 2-4 children have a hard time sitting for long periods of time so this usually limited 5-10 minutes at a time. The children enjoy listening to stories, songs, finger plays and puppet shows. I try to provide a stimulating environment each day. The children spend at least an hour a day outside exploring and playing. The outdoor environment is very important in a child’s play. We try to bring our indoor classroom outside by playing dress up, building blocks, exploring the water table and painting outside. Every other week the children are involved in an hour of games, followed by an obstacle course. I am very influenced by Bev Bos (Founder of the Roseville Co-op Preschool) and her philosophy for play. I also like Montessori style teaching and I use some of this in my childcare. TV is only used in the morning to transition the children into the classroom and is turned off by 8:30am and is never used during the day, besides an occasional Disney or G rated movie on Fridays during pick up time.

PHILOSOPHY

Here at Early Beginnings, I feel that the best assurance for the success of each child's day care or preschool experience is through the close cooperation and understanding between parents and I. My philosophy is that children should be treated as individuals and that their health, safety and eduaction are of paramount importance. My goal is to help each child in their mental, emotional, social and physical development through a well rounded and age appropriate program of guided free play, structured class time, special guests and field trips. I try to emphasize that daily open communication between the parents and I is essential in providing high-quality childcare.
